Netiquette is defined in a few places in this course (in the online textbook chapter of this module, and even in our course syllabus). According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the basic definition is “the rules of etiquette that apply when communicating over computer networks, especially the internet.”
Discussion Prompt
Now that you are more familiar with the expectations and informal rules of communicating with people on the internet, please share one lesson that you have learned about how to communicate well in digital channels. Have you had any experiences in the past where you violated netiquette? (no shame…we all learn from mistakes) If you can’t refer to specific mistakes made, were there any netiquette rules or tips that surprised you when you read about them? Which ones?
For your reply posts, you could share a similar experience or observation in your internet communication. You also could draw connections with communication in other environments.
