The body of your paper should be 200-300 words (not including any student or class identifying information or the reference page). An excellent paper is more likely to be closer to 300 words than 200. However, do not exceed 300 words.
Include in-text citations and a reference list in American Psychological Association (APA) style. Check the Resources module for examples and tutorials about correct APA style.
The paper should be written with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. The text should be mostly in the student’s own words, with no lengthy quotes (more than 40 words).
All concepts, ideas, opinions, and quotes must be properly cited. This is not an argumentative essay. In other words, your opinion about the topic should not be evident from the assignment.
In your report, address these points in order as separate paragraphs:
Briefly summarize (50-75 words) the article’s main findings or results. (The findings or results often but not always can be found in a section labeled with either of those words.) Include in-text citations to the article that is the main topic of the paper.
Briefly explain (50-75 words) how the article relates to concepts in Craft and Davis (2016) or Craft and Davis (2021). Do not assume that material covered in lecture is also found in the textbook. To do this well, you will need in-text citations to both Craft and Davis (2016 or 2021) and to the article that is the main topic of the paper.
Briefly explain (50-75 words) how the article relates to concepts in at least one other required course reading. Do not refer to lecture or videos. Other required course readings include Wu (2017), American Press Institute (n.d.), Baughman (2011), Bernard (2019), and Leonhardt (2019). You may email me at least four days before the deadline (i.e., by 9 p.m. Wednesday) to check whether a reading is eligible to meet this requirement. To do this well, you will need in-text citations both to the article that is the main topic of the paper and to the required course reading.
Briefly summarize (50-75 words) the article’s contribution to understanding of journalism and/or media. (The contribution often but not always is explained in a section labeled “Discussion.”) An excellent conclusion will explain this contribution in the context of all three sources, with citations to all three sources in this paragraph.
