-The assignment is: view a recorded classical concert performance and write a concert report (essay of at least 500 to 650 words, 3 pages) that assesses carefully the musical elements below (genre, texture, melody, key, meter, tempo, rhythm, harmony, dynamics, mood, and instrumentations). – choose one of the performances – Wolfgang Mozart “symphony No 40’’. Or Antonio Vivaldi “The four seasons’’. Please choose a YouTube performance that include an orchestra.
-MLA style+ 12 point-font times New Roman +double spaced.
– Usage of a proper Citation in the body paragraph.
– The worked cited link of the discussed performance, please provide it in the last page.
-The structural elements that need to be addressed in the report are:
for introduction: informations about the work the composition era, the performer. date and place of the performance, the group performing (Artiste and orchestra), a brief description of the concert setting (hall, performer’s dress)… . You can find an example for intro in the attached ‘”sample of a concert report’’ bellow.
For the body paragraphs: include the musical elements such as genre, Melody( type of melody conjunct/ disjunct – consonant/ dissonant chords , memorable). Texture (homophonic, polyphonic ..)- key ( major or minor)- meter – harmony- rhythm/ tempo( slow or fast), dynamics- mood ( energetic, dramatic, melancholic )- cadence ( closing areas), instrumentations( strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion….., Instruments used in each part of the performance , in the opening- development and closing areas+ if elements change as a piece progresses) . You can of course add to or remove in this structural elements.
– For conclusion: A brief conclusion with a self-reaction to the concert (enjoyed it, no, what did you like about it).
