Assessment Description
Understanding personal values and assumptions regarding various student groups will affect how a teacher plans for instruction and to address behavioral needs. By identifying these values and assumptions in relation to ethical standards, equitable classrooms can be supported and promoted to enhance all students’ learning.
Choose an inclusive grade level band (K-3, 4-6, 7-8, or 9-12), and write a 1,250-1,500 word essay addressing the following:
Two examples of how teachers can assess their values in ethical and professional practices regarding equitable instruction of all students.
Two examples of how teachers address their assumptions affecting instructional practices and decision-making in an inclusive classroom that includes students with mild to moderate disabilities.
Two examples of how instruction could be modified to meet the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities applying what you have learned about motivation and engagement. Include discussion of how this support for learning extends across performance areas.
Reflect on the grade band you have selected and how the assumptions affecting instructional practices and decision-making differ from other grade bands. Discuss instructional strategies used to support the needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities.
Support your findings with a minimum of three scholarly resources.
