So our main theme was “how does fashion matter?” So I wrote my thesis statement already which is “This essay will explore materialism by considering how the material interacts with the human body and affects its effects on behavior, and furthermore how it connects to identity. This will explain the reason why fashion matters to people”. Basically I want my essay to talk about materialism. I wrote my first body paragraph very roughly already too, I will paste it at thr end below. I wrote my personal experience for the first body paragraph. So I want some other academic resource to support what I am trying to say in the first body paragraph. Formy body 2, I want to talk about how materialism and fashion connects to idendity. Body 2 has to be a bit more academic and formal then the 1st body paragraph.

“First, I will talk about how the material interacts with the human body and affects its effects on behavior. I personally love fashion because clothes that are made for specific fashion were very helpful for me to cover up my body complex. To be more specific, I had scoliosis for 8 years, which is getting worse over time. I had a time period when I suffered from tremendous anxiety and depression, that was when I was in middle school because I see that my body looks very unbalanced and different from others. I was always worried about how other people looked at me, always anxious that someone will notice this bent body that I thought is so ugly and hated the most. That’s when I fell deeply into fashion because I started to search and explore clothes that can cover up the parts that I want to cover up. I went shopping every weekend trying out different clothes made out of different materials, through this process, I was able to find what kind of silhouette and materials suit my needs the most. This way I was able to gain my self-esteem again because these types of clothes made me feel secure so I don’t have to worry that others will notice my scoliosis, in addition, I gained confidence by hearing compliments from people around me that I know what type of clothes suits me. I have a few types of clothes/ fashion styles that I concluded it is my best outfit. My favorite is street fashion because street fashion brands create a lot of oversized clothes with cool patterns, graphics, and details that divert attention. The type of T-shirts I have and wear the most during summer are large T-shirts that are made out of 100% cotton. But to be honest, they are not the most suitable material for summer. This is because cotton tees are slightly thick, so they are not cool because there is no ventilation or sweat absorption function. However, because of the characteristics of such a cotton tee, I do not need to keep my body in a tense state because the thickness of it covers up my body silhouette. I had to always keep my body in a state of tension when I wear clothes that are slim-fit or clothes that showed off my body line like silk.”
