Short Essays:
Each student in this class is required to write short essays on at least eight of the thirteen films that we watch this semester. I expect you to write two pages (500 words) specifically on the question listed beneath each film. Your answers should be typed and written in standard English. With one exception
(The Quiet American), the films themselves, the relevant sections of Writing About Movies, and your
own imagination are the only materials necessary for answering the questions; no outside research is required.
If you are describing formal or technical aspects of the film in your essay, make sure to use the terminology in Writing About Movies, especially pp. 197-264.
