MGT416 Leadership Self-Assessment Paper Instructions
The purpose of this paper is to encourage your reflection on the course material and its application to your life and development as a leader. Therefore, in each of your self-assessment paper you should integrate course concepts and theories and provide sample citations from the textbook. This should be written in an essay format.
By completing this assignment, you will be able to assess yourself on five different leadership topics, understand your strengths and weaknesses as a leader and help you function more effectively in leadership positions.
Task
Each leadership topic covered in this class comes with a leadership instrument (an assessment questionnaire) from assigned chapter readings in the required textbook. Specifically, your leadership self-assessment papers should examine the following five leadership topics:

1. Fill out the leadership instrument (i.e., assessment questionnaire) to your best knowledge. Note that there are no right or wrong answers. Faking has no benefits, as it may lead to distorted views and thus prevent you from gaining true insights about yourself.
2. Calculate and interpret the scores you receive from the said instrument.
3. Complete the leadership-assessment paper.
(a) summarize the leadership theory related to the given topic in the corresponding chapter reading (one should gain a concise, yet comprehensive understanding of the said leadership theory after reading your summary);
(b) recall and document a real-life encounter (i.e., personal experience or observation of others in organizations) related to the said leadership topic;
(c) based on the scores/results you receive from the instrument, explain in the context of the corresponding chapter reading what you learned about your strengths and weaknesses as a member in the workplace/school;
(d) lay out how you plan to address your weaknesses (i.e., action plan) and explain the “why” behind the plan based on the corresponding chapter reading.
Criteria: You are required to fill in the paper template posted on the Blackboard. Each paper should be at least two (2) full pages (single-spaced, with a font size of 10 or 11), excluding figures, tables, and any appendices if any.
This is an individual assignment. Each student should work independently. You will be graded based on the following: (a) how well you summarize the leadership theory in each corresponding chapter, (b) how well you apply the leadership theory in your own real-life experience based on the knowledge you have gained from the chapter reading, and (c) how well you recognize your strengths and weaknesses based on the leadership instrument on each leadership topic, (d) the quality of your action plan (e.g., feasibility, clarity, and alignment with goals and objectives) (e) organization (e.g., use the required template, clarity and flow of ideas, and consistent formatting throughout the paper and writing mechanics (e.g., grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and appropriate use of academic tone and language).
