Step One: Choose a topic you are passionate about on which to write a persuasive essay. It may help to free-write about a couple of topics before making your choice.
Step Two: Research your topic. Remember, we should always research a topic BEFORE taking a stance on it.
Step Three: Write a 3-5 page essay arguing your stance on the issue.
Requirements:
• You must have a three part thesis statement at the end of your introduction.
Example: “The Simpsons is the best show in history because of its longevity, the great characters, and its wide appeal.” Notice that it starts by introducing the topic, then explains the stance, and finally gives three reasons that will be elaborated on throughout the paper.
Note: This is just an example.
You should choose something you can support with hard facts.
• You must have a minimum of three sources. They should be included in the paper using in-text citation.
