1. This week’s homework assignments will consist of short-answer questions for this week’s homework assignments. The assignments are designed to reinforce and solidify the major concepts covered this week. Please use the Week One Assignment document below to fill in your answers and include detailed steps if calculations are involved. All answers and solutions must be submitted in one file only. Please clearly mark each question in the document. You must work on the programs independently- without seeking assistance from tutors, colleagues, classmates, and friends. In this week’s Collaborate session, we will work on similar types of problems. You may either attend the live session or watch the recordings if you need additional directions.

2. In this week’s discussion, pretend that you are ready to buy a new computer for personal use. First, take a look at ads from various magazines and newspapers and list terms you don’t quite understand. Look up these terms and give a brief written explanation. Decide what factors are important in your decision, as to which computer to buy, and list them. After you select the system you would like to buy, identify which terms refer to hardware and which refer to software and the pros and cons of the system you have selected.

5. In CSC340L, we are learning a new design tool along with a hardware design language – Verilog. Our weekly discussion topics therefore are designed to be a series of tutorials: each week, you will be given a list of specific aspects of the ISE Design Suite or Verilog, out of which you will choose 1 to focus on and write a 250 – 500 word summary/tutorial to share with the class. In your reply posting, you will choose one of the initial postings from our class to provide a 125 – 250 word feedback (i.e., how easy it is to follow the postings, any missing steps, how it helps you to understand the materials better, etc.)
For week 1, the list that you can choose from is:
1. Introduction to the ISE Design Suites including its main purpose, key features, capabilities, limitations, etc. (Please do not include any information on download links, installation, or setup process)
2. The history and design flow of Verilog
