This assessment is a dialogue in which the main requirement or aim is for you to showcase the theoretical tradition within which your chosen theorist works. This assessment focuses on the scholars who have contributed to the established theoretical traditions and related concepts. I have attached an example of a dialogue from a previous year that my tutor sent me. It is on a different thinker, but it offers a good example of how a dialogue should be structured and focused on the theorist’s ideas. So that can be a guideline for this dialogue and what they are looking for. This assessment encourages you to investigate the concerns of a selected theorist, discern the nature of their contentions, and pose questions of your own, in the context of an imaginary conversation. Although a written dialogue, it is inspired by the idea of a Socratic dialogue – the process by which ideas are orally presented, explored, and debated, rather than simply accepted as true. Thus, you can identify issues about which you are uncertain, that seem to be ambiguous and unclear, or appear to be open to multiple interpretations. Please note this is a dialogue for the thinker John Ikerberry who is an American political scientist and the dialogue topic is on Liberal Internationalism.
