In this Annotated Bibliography assignment,
we will be working on reading, deciphering, and preparing an academic text to
be useful for our own research. The task will involve three essential
components.
First, you will develop a general thesis
for your research project. Is there a question you have brought with you from
your subject review? Do you have an opinion that can be developed into a
rigorous hypothesis? Is there something you want to know or think others should
know that the academic record may confirm or deny?
Format:
The Annotated Bibliography should appear as
an alphabetical list of the sources you have found cited using MLA format.
There should be twenty entries in the list and ten of those entries will also
include your annotations.
Annotations should be written in a way that
is legible to a reader. You may use bullet points or lists for components like
quotes. You do not need to write full paragraphs or make arguments in each
individual annotation.
Purpose:
1) The purpose of this assignment is to
give you a broad sense of the academic discourse surrounding your topic.
2) This project should also set you up for
the final research project of the semester.
