The final research paper must:
…consistently make a well-supported argument, taking a side.
…avoid being a book report. Every body paragraph must be making an argument.
…be your work and not plagiarized.
…follow MLA formatting.
…have a strong and concise thesis that is clearly followed throughout the essay.
…be 5 to 6 pages typed double-spaced pages in length.
…use a size 12 Times New Roman font.
…use authoritative and legitimate sources.
… use at least 6 different respected outside sources,
… tag each quote or paraphrase with MLA style parenthetical citation. THIS IS ESSENTAIL. We will talk about this in class. Pay close attention.
… contain only body paragraphs that are each supported by an outside sources, which are cited MLA style. This means every body paragraph should be supported by research.
…use a works cited page at the end, on a separate page, listing all sources cited within the paper.
…clearly indicate when outside information is being used.
…not be just a copy and paste essay of outside sources.
…refute the other side in one paragraph before the conclusion. Remember: to refute is to tell why the other side is weak or wrong.
