In her vision, wisdom and analytical research, Dr. Maria Montessori saw life as a
continuum, each stage evolving from the preceding one and preparing for the next. The
Children’s House lays the foundation of the inquiring mind of the 3 to 5 child interested
in What and Where.
The mind of the elementary child functions in a new way: Why, How and Where are the
consuming questions and interests. Names and facts acquired before are now used by the
child’s creative imagination to trace the paths of evolution, to retrace and explore the
human beings’ discoveries and inventions and to search for new ideas and solutions in a
personal, meaningful and cooperative way.
The 6-9 child seeks and needs an introduction to and an overview of just about everything.
The more the child undertakes, the more s/he learns. This is the Age for Cosmic (al directions) Education.
The goal of this Montessori Elementary Teacher Education Course is to provide you with
a thorough understanding of The Secret of Childhood, to help you gain insights into the
true nature of the child (6-9), to model the use of an impressive array of invaluable
learning tools, and to demonstrate how respect for the child’s inner teacher serves as the
integrating principle for effective elementary education.
