As a group you will be turning in a 3-4 page paper (typed in APA format with a title page, (reference page if a reference was used), double spaced and 12-point Times New Roman font), that has identified the themes (minimum of 2) you all found across your interviews! Each student will write their section in a different highlighted color as we did in the Google doc. The 3-4 page length does not include the title page or reference page.
Carefully follow the instructions below:
PART A (Page 1):
Introduce the person you interviewed. If they are a healthcare professional, what is their occupation? If they are a patient what was the reason they were in need of medical care? Discuss one or two questions that you asked that produced an interesting response. What is something that you learned from this interview about healthcare in general? Each student should write about 200-400 words for this section.
PART B (Collaboration): (I introduced the theme for helplessness for Part B’s 1st paragraph, Part B will talk about the themes of helplessness and compassion based off from the interview questions below. I need to still put compassion on there too)
1. How did your group identify themes across all the interviews, and what (at least 2) the themes were. Think about your process-were there some themes that didn’t fit? Were there themes that really jumped out at the group?
2. Explain your process in the paper. What was hard in writing this paper collaboratively, what worked well? What would you do differently if you were to write collaboratively again. What stood out to each of the group members about the process of collaborative writing and what you learned about groups and working as teams. You can see the rubric below for further information.
Assignment Rationale: This assignment helps us remember that healthcare is a collaborative effort. In some fields like Nursing there is something called Team Nursing! Therefore, for this service-learning assignment, you will be seeing healthcare through the eyes of a practitioner or patient and working together as a team to connect the themes that you found.
I attached my interview questions on a patient who received long term care with the colostomy bag.
