The major component of this module is the project itself.
The spirit of the module is that it is practice-led,
[(I am doing the performance and will talk about it later on my own)]
but underpinned by research, and accompanied by a critical evaluation of the work.
As such, you should consider the project as a ‘research project’ – something that seeks to achieve a goal (or goals) by solving particular technical and aesthetic problems.
As such, you will typically submit a critical commentary that both reflects on your work and explains how the project sits at the cutting edge of the subject area.
It must involve further analysis of the literature and/or the creative work of others.
Because suitable projects can straddle a large range of disciplines, and since this module is available over a range of courses it is not appropriate to offer too much specific detail here.
The intention is to balance critical evaluation and research.
Deviation from Proposal
To a large extent, the project will be matched against the intention presented in the proposal.
Deviations from the original proposal may have occurred through the natural development of an idea, or due to unforeseen circumstances. It may also have been desirable in order to make the work stronger. Deviation from the original proposal is not necessarily a negative point and in all such cases, a strong argument should be provided in the written work to support the change of direction, and wherever possible agreed with your supervisor in advance.

The originality of your work is exceptional, as contextualized by its place within a comprehensive framework of principally peer-reviewed sources. The assimilation and synthesis of their content is also exceptional in terms of both its breadth and depth. The sustained engagement with literature in all aspects of the text is also exceptional; highly cogent with a most compelling narrative, perspicaciously and consistently guiding the trajectory of the project. The referencing is exemplary in its deployment and conformation to the CTR standard and clearly demonstrates power-user use of a reference manager with carefully checked metadata. LO3 has been achieved to an exceptional standard. An exceptional critical understanding and deployment of your methodology have led you to both create and interpret knowledge to an exceptional degree. The methodology compellingly facilitated the collection and rigorous analysis of primary data to form insightful conclusions that answered all research questions to an extent that was far beyond expectations. LO3 has been achieved to an exceptional standard.
LO2, LO3, LO5 -The level and breadth of technical control that is demonstrated to realize the audio/music component:
The level and breadth of technical control in the practical work are exceptional. The work is clearly at, and/or comprehensively and lucidly informed by the forefront of the field of study. There is exceptional originality in both the application of knowledge and understanding of how established techniques of research and inquiry can interpret knowledge, and convert it into an exceptional practical realization. There is evidence of exceptional autonomy regarding the initiative, originality, personal responsibility, and decision-making that come together to deliver an exceptional audio/music artefact. LO2, LO3, and LO4 have been achieved to an exceptional standard.
LO5-The overall project management:
The level of project management is exceptional. Every salient aspect of the project has been planned for and delivered way beyond all expectations. Evidence indicated that the ambitious workload was meticulously controlled at every single moment, and everything aligned with the proposal planning and Gantt chart. It might be that where problems arose, solutions had already been planned for and were seamlessly put into action to completely mitigate the issues with zero disruption to the progression of the project. Where unexpected situations and problems did arise, innovative and potent solutions were swiftly deployed. A highly successful project was delivered. LO5 has been achieved to an exceptional standard.
LO6, LO7- The level of aesthetic and/or expressive coherence:
The practical work communicates its conclusions in an exceptional manner. Both the expressive coherence and intended aesthetic of the practical work is exceptional, and the work conveys an exceptionally lucid understanding of how it relates to current and future industrial practice. LO6 and LO7 have been achieved to an exceptional standard.
LO2, LO7- The degree to which your practice draws from current research, your field of study, or cutting-edge professional practice, and the extent to which you convey this:
The degree to which the work draws from and aligns with cutting-edge practice and/or research is exceptional. The accrual of new skills, knowledge, and understanding is also exceptional and has been lucidly and most precisely articulated, and your position in relation to, reaction against, and any contribution to the extant cutting-edge of your chosen field is exceptionally cogent and compellingly stated. LO2 and LO7 have been achieved to an exceptional standard.
