How did societal changes in and leading up to 18th Century England effect changes in the composition and performance of classical music in England in the 18th century?
Hi! This is a paper for a master’s level class in music history at a music conservatory. I have the opportunity to choose any topic whatsoever regarding music in England in the 17th and/ or 18th centuries. I thought this one might be less musicologically technical than some of the other topics I could think of.
We should consult and cite a number of period and contemporary sources on the subject. A five minute search just now turned up a bunch of great information, even in the Encyclopedia Brittanica.
A background in classical music would be very helpful in writing this paper.
