The purpose of this week’s activity and the journal entry is to increase your awareness of your environment. Try to give as much detail in your responses as possible. The more thorough and thoughtful you can be, the greater benefit you will gain from the exercise. As you go through the responses, make sure to include brief information related to the five elements of a healing environment from your textbook (e.g., nature, noise, etc.) Do this activity in a place where you spend considerable time, such as your dorm room or home, or in some cases, your work area! |
Evaluate your environment and respond to the following: 1. Location you are assessing. 2. Describe the environment in detail including color, light, smells, air, noise, and temperature. Also, include aspects such as clutter control, organization, and incorporated natural elements. 3. What aspects of the environment do you find to be relaxing? Why? 4. What aspects of the environment do you find to be stressful? Why? 5. Assess how technology impacts your environment. Do you manage your use of technology so it enhances your well-being, or does it contribute to your stress? 6. What are three things that you would or could do to make your environment more relaxing and healing? |
