Week 6 Discussion: Engagement, Assessment, and Planning
In social work practice, the generalist intervention model (also known as the planned change process) is used to address social functioning and to promote the well-being of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. The generalist intervention model includes:
- Engagement.
- Assessment.
- Planning.
- Intervention.
- Evaluation.
- Termination.
- Follow-up.
For this discussion:
- Review this week’s readings and share one example where you or your site supervisor have used engagement to establish rapport, assessment to uncover needs, and planning to determine what is required to address the needs of a client, family, group, organization, or community. Remember, use pseudonyms when mentioning clients or other individuals.
Response Guidelines
Review and respond to the posts of two other learners. After reviewing the readings, recommend how the learners could use technology in their use of engagement and planning when the client system is not available for an in-person meeting. Allow innovation and the readings to inform your responses.
Please make your initial post by Thursday and your response posts by Sunday.
