As part of this assignment, you are asked to choose an intervention that can support a transition to more sustainable operations or design a transition related to your current work environment or area of interest.
The scope and ‘extent of change’ you want to achieve may vary between business or policy interventions that support sustainable futures either from an environmental or social perspective (eg. an organisation-wide sustainability strategy, a focus on ethical supply chain development, a focus on emissions curbing plan or establishment of a circular model for operations, a city-wide/place-based adaptation plan development, a new climate risk mitigation/social security strategy etc). These are simply some ideas to help you identify your area of interest and focus on it.
Once you identified the vision and scope of change you will use the TOC template proposed to work towards planning actions. You will eventually summarise your Theory of change in a short report accompanying the diagram, including:
- Description of the intervention (scope, aim and your main objectives) as well as provide a basic context in which the change is aimed at / the need for it.
- Fill in the template provided (Miro link) to apply the ‘Theory of change’ approach in structuring your plan and managing how you can achieve your goal through specific activities and engaging with others, working backwards. You will find further guidance on the template itself on applying a step-by-step approach to it. You can use the Tutorial time to discuss any questions with the Module lead.
- Finally, ‘synthesise’ the points made on the Miro Template in the format of a short written description of the work, in the form of a slideshow with added text, summarising key points of each component of the ‘tool’ .
Provide a discussion session with your reflection on extent of achieving expected social-economic, environmental outcomes (directly or indirectly) across through your policy/business strategy/ intervention described. Add brief comments on use of the tool for you and your context.
Word limit: 2000-3000max for text added (excl. bibliography/References if any). Please include images/pdf of the TOC diagram designed in Miro board along with your text description for a full submission in a slideshow.
Format: Presentation preferred, adding images from Miro and your textual explanation.
