Reflective journal of current school, family, and community issues
The purpose of this activity is to identify and reflect on current issues of impact to
families, schools and the community. On a weekly basis, identify those issues that, in
your opinion, are of significance to your local school and community. Select issues from
events in the news, Internet or situations at the local level (school, neighborhood).
Enter these in your journal along with your reflections. Document each issue with the
appropriate sources (newspaper clippings, journal articles). Include a summary of your
reflections including the reason for your selections. Highlight the issue that, in your
opinion, will have the greatest impact of home-school community relations. Select one
issue and present in class.
