Critical analysis for short story “Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates

Write an 800-1000 word critical essay for “Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates. The topic and thesis should be related to the following:

Both Connie and Arnold Friend more than once suggest that he is, or should be, familiar to her. Aside from the fact she has seen him at least once before, why and how does he seem familiar? Why might that familiarity be significant, or how might it shape your sense of who Arnold is or what he might represent in the story?

You will use examples from the story to support your points.  Roughly, you would need at least 7 or 8 quotes that are BLENDED into your own sentences.   Make sure the paper is in MLA format and a minimum of 800 words.  Most of all, have fun with your ideas. Make sure that you follow all of the conventions of writing about literature.

I am including a link to this shorts story. I am also including attachments that includes a checklist for a critical essay and a sample critical analysis for reference.
