The assignment must include the following:
INTRODUCTION/ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
*Write a cohesive and detailed paragraph about the proposed learning design project that summarizes the project and its importance/relation to overall organization/institution.
ANALYSIS
Need for Instruction: Briefly Articulate Why Instruction Is Needed. Is there a gap in learning? A need to provide instruction on a new skill, etc.?
Learning Objectives: (ONLY 3-5)
Upon completion of this training, the [DESCRIBE TARGET AUDIENCE] should be able to:
- Create a bulleted list
Learner Analysis: (Include detailed descriptions for each of the areas below)
- Learner group:
- Characteristics of the learners:
- Audience size:
- Average age (range):
- Primary role (e.g., student, sales rep, lifelong learner, etc.):
- Technical skills (High, average, low):
- Learning delivery preference (e.g., self-paced, online, f2f):
Resource Analysis:
Content Resources: List any available or to-be-made resources
Technology Resources: List available and/or required technological resources
Human Resources: List trainers or instructors that will deliver the instruction or other available personnel
Instructional Facilities (if applicable):
- Location:
- Available technologies:
- Additional needs:
Delivery System:
Here you will need to address how the learners are going to receive the instruction and what that looks like. You must include instructor preparation, classroom instruction, demonstration of learning, and if/how feedback will be provided to the learner. This can be a chart or bulleted items. Remember mobile-first mindset.
Timeline:
Now, you will create a timeline of the sequencing of all events from creation of the Design Plan to completion of instruction to assessment of student learning. Make sure to think about all of the step-by-step elements that will need to be completed prior to the instruction of your skill, what will occur the day(s) of instruction, time for assessment/evaluation of learning, feedback to learners, and instructor feedback, and then overall evaluation of plan. Please realize the aforementioned sentences are not an exhaustive list and does not include the nuances of your project, so please personalize it to fit your design.
Time Period |
Activity |
E.g., create design plan, hold first lesson/training session, assess/evaluate |
Development Learning Plan Now you are going to be creating your learning plan. This is taking your task inventory and adding in the instructional elements for each assessment/test item. It is important to note that you need to highlight how the learning/instruction will take place. Also, while it does not happen often, sometimes your activity and assessment will be the same or part of the same item. If that is the case, just make sure the information is detailed and it is clear how that item is an activity and/or assessment. Remember mobile-first mindset in technology and principles. |
|
A. OBJECTIVES: (knowledge, attitudes, skills) “After this lesson each student should be able to . . . .â€ [Remember to use observable / measurable terms – strong verbs.] |
|
B. AUDIENCE AND CONTEXT Identify student or trainee characteristics as well as space (even if virtual). How will learners be grouped during the lesson? How will the physical arrangement of the room or virtual space be configured for the lesson to ensure success? |
C. PRE-ASSESSMENT Collect information on each student before you plan and teach. How will you gather this information? What do students know about the topic? Consider: Formal and informal assessment, a quiz, work from previous lesson, anecdotal information, etc.
|
D. MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES OR SOFTWARE Include numbers of each tool that is needed and how many are needed for each group (i.e. 12 iPads; or each group will receive 1 Chromebook) |
E. MOBILE TEACHING / TRAINING STRATEGIES What teaching or training strategies will be used? How long will the lesson or session be? Will there be formative assessments along the way? What mobile learning principles are used?
|
F. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION |
G. ASSESSMENT RUBRIC OR CRITERIA
|
Implementation
In this section, consider how you will implement the project:
Facilitator: What do you need to do before the project commences? |
E.g., upload course to LMS, prepare room layout, etc. |
Learners: What do students need to do before project commences? |
E.g., Register for accounts, bring certain materials, etc. |
Activities and Assessments
For a minimum of two of the lessons in the development section, you will need to provide an activity or assessment from that lesson. Be creative, but remember mobile-first mindset.
Evaluation Plan:
Develop an evaluation plan for the training. Make sure to include and label formative and summative assessments and other varying “types of assessments.
Rubrics and evaluation criteria
