The first step in the process is to create a presentation outline. Please cover the following points in your outline:
An introduction where you introduce yourself to the class and explain your early career goal(Fashion editor and stylist) – including what job(Magazines creative director) to you want to obtain during the first five years of your career, and the relative importance of job satisfaction, compensation and lifestyle. Strive to make the introduction interesting with an appropriate attention getter.
The body of your presentation with three strategies that will help you be successful in your early career. One of the strategies must be how you will differentiate yourself from the competition. You are free to choose two other strategies that we have studied that you believe will be important to your career success. Please note the following:
****You should explain why and how the strategies you selected would help make you successful once you have obtained your first job after graduation. It is not enough to say I will network. You must explain why networking will be important for you and how you will successfully network. The better you explain your strategies and the more that the strategies can create competitive advantage, the better your grade.
*** Also, at this point in the course, you will be synthesizing everything you have learned. While your outline may include ideas from your earlier assignment it should go beyond those assignments to represent the best possible approaches to your career.
The final component of the presentation outline is a conclusion that summarizes your career strategy and requests questions.
