Consider efforts to preserve nature and natural landmarks, such as conservation efforts for national/state parks. Write a persuasive essay on these efforts and the land and money used to keep them. Use “should” or “should not” to present your main idea clearly.

- Who do they benefit (the planet, people, animals, plants, future generations)?
- Is it our responsibility to preserve national/state parks?
- Should Native American tribes be involved in preservation and conservation efforts?
- How much does it cost to preserve them?
- Where does this money originate?
- Who authorizes these costs?
- Should preservation efforts for national/state parks continue, increase, or decrease?
- Are there any conditions to your argument?
The essay should contain:
- An introductory paragraph with a thesis statement that contains the counterargument, the argument, and three supporting details:
- Even though [counterargument], [argument] because [reason 1], [reason 2], and [reason 3].
- Three body paragraphs that address the supporting details with specific evidence using the MEAL Plan(EACH BODY PARAGRAPH MUST CONTAIN AT LEAST ONE, IF NOT TWO, CORRECTLY-CITED QUOTES, SUMMARIES, OR PARAPHRASES);
- A conclusion paragraph that summarizes the thesis statement and mentions the supporting details, along with a graceful component that wraps up the main theme of the essay.
The essay will be evaluated in terms of unity, support, coherence, and sentence skills. Use 9th edition MLA formatting to cite your sources both in-text and in the works cited list.
