You will compare and/or contrast any two poems or our two selected plays from the Norton textbook. Your focus may be on either content or form (or both). Therefore, you might examine themes, structure, tone, character(s), symbolism, or other related elements. Your essay should have two primary sources, your two chosen poems or plays. Do not use any secondary/outside sources. Use proper MLA style formatting, including a Works Cited page listing your two primary sources—a Works Cited page is required for this essay.
This essay will be graded on content, organization, development, phrasing, format (including proper format for citing poetry or 2+ lines from a play within your paper), and how well you use details from the primary sources to effectively support your ideas. As with your previous essays, the most important thing is that you have a strong thesis and fully develop your thesis with specific details from the primary sources (not simply summary analysis). Use the skills of writing and analysis that you have developed throughout this course.
