Your task for this essay is to compose an issue-based argument based on, or based in, some connection between Atwood’s novel, its adaptations, and some aspect of our current moment (say the last 10 years or so).
The essay must use at least one scholarly source, which I have approved. The essay may also draw from other sources, scholarly or popular, as the essay’s argument requires.
Your essay may go in a direction of your own choosing—so long as that direction develops, explains, and advances an issue-based thesis argument about some topic developed from and inspired by the events of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.
Note: the essay need not provide an in-depth literary analysis of the novel, the graphic novel, or the Hulu series, but the essay should make slightly more than a passing reference/nod to the novel and a screen adaptation—your readers should be confident that you have read the book and seen a few screen examples of HMT.
