The Brief: For this assignment you will submit the questions you have written for each chapter and the lab assignments you have done thus far in the form of a Lab Book. After you’re done, post a question in the Q discussion board.
Passive work: copying and pasting the work you have already done into one document
Active work: reflecting on your work, selecting a favorite question
USE THIS SIMPLE TEMPLATE: Review and As
To do: Create a new document and title it something along the lines of, “[your name]’s GEO 1030 Lab Bookâ€ or use the template linked above. On the first page, paste in all the questions you have written during the module quizzes. Next, choose your favorite to post in discussion. On the second page, write a “Lab Book Cover” with a reflection on your work in the class. In the rest of the document, compile all the labs/discussion posts you have made over the course of the semester thus far.
Lab compilation and self-assessment: The labs do not need to be organized in any particular fashion, just copy-and-paste all the text you have written into one place. Read through your writing. For each assignment, give yourself a score of some kind and include your score at the top of each lab entry (like, “Lab 3 – 5/5 stars!â€ Or “NASWA Lab — *meh face emoji*â€). Like all grades, the scores don’t mean all that much, just use them to evaluate what you are learning about your learning.
Notes:
- No need to answer your questions, just provide all the questions you have written about the chapters thus far.
- No need to include photo attachments if it’s complicated. The most important thing is to have all your text content from each lab.
Questions to answer on the lab book cover page (you can also find these on the template):
_[your name]__’s Lab book
Best work: [Which lab did you really knock out of the park or feel proud of?]
Room to improve: [Something specific you would have liked to do better? General skills you want to hone?]
Favorite Lab: [Favorite lab and why it was your favorite]
Challenge/meh Lab: [Least favorite lab and why–this could be a lab that you think could be improved as an assignment, one you did not enjoy, or one that you found particularly challenging]
Reflection: [In one to two paragraphs, reflect on your work in this class. Did your work or engagement change over time? Areas of growth? What can you understand about yourself as a learner by looking at your work in this way? If you were a teacher, what comments would you give yourself on the lab work included here? What would you like to revisit or learn more about? Other thoughts on the class?]
[The rest of the document is just the text from all of your discussion assignments with a self-assessment notation at the top of each.]
