Compose a biographical news release. Write this news release on someone who has been appointed to
or been promoted to a position of authority in your company (must be fictitious). Like Joe Smith appointed vice president of marketing beginning Sept 1.
Establish this person as credible in his/her field by providing information on past positions in the field, accomplishments at those positions, education/skills gained in his/her field etc.
Remember, a news release must contain a newsworthy angle, so all information presented must be qualified in some way. In other words, stay away from words like ‘best her field’ or ‘#1 salesperson.’
Instead stick with ‘qualified’ examples like ‘voted number one in effective media relations,” according to Newsweek Magazine September ’22.
Or ‘increased sales in vehicles by 20 percent in his first year as vice president at the organization.’
