This paper must be between nine or ten double-spaced pages, this will include in-text citations but not the reference pages. The paper must be formatted in seventh edition apa and must include the reference pages. There at least has to be eight sources used, but there can be more than that if needed. There will be an outline provided for this paper and it must followed very closely. This paper is on the evolution of prisoners of war. It looks at examples from ancient civilizations to modern conflicts. My thesis is that the historical experiences of prisoners of war have played a vital role in molding the legal frameworks which protect prisoners of war today.
The Evolution of Prisoners of War: From Ancient Civilizations to Modern Conflicts
In the annotated outline there are six examples of wars and conflicts throughout history. You can choose to write about one event or the other for each section. This is to shorten the paper if needed to meet the paper length since there is a lot of content on the outline. But if you can fit all of the wars/conflicts in the paper in nine to ten pages, then that is fine too. So ,if you have to cut down, write on either the Seige of Carthage or the Siege of Jerusalem; the Siege of Constantinople or the Battle of Lepanto; the Bataan Death March or the Palawan Massacre. Make sure to write on one war/conflict for each time period!
Please make sure to use international humanitarian law as a source, otherwise known as the law of war, in this paper! Use those laws in the “Current Legal Frameworks for POW Protection” section and in any other spot needed. I have also provided sources to all of the wars and conflicts in the outline, so use those. International law can be found at ” www.icrc.org ” under the War & Law tab.
