Introduction
Introduction is attention-getting and provides relevant information. Discusses overall concepts and details
with a historical perspective. Set the “scene”—why was DeCrecchio’s research so groundbreaking?
Summary
Summary consists of a discussion of major themes, and ideas and provides ideas. It includes strong
explanations, opinions and new ideas using your reference material using your own words.
Critique and Personal Points of Interest
Critique consists of your thoughts, responses and reaction to the observations, revelations, and
explanations of the original article and DeCrecchio’s paper. The effectiveness of the publication should be
evaluated. (Do you think this article is interesting and should be read or is it a waste of time?) Does this
article raise more questions than answer them (and what may they be?). Did your references explain
some of DeCrecchio’s observations? Can you see scientifically based answers to the societal questions
concerning sexual ambiguity and transgender? What suggestions you might have to increase effectiveness,
if any. And finally, what are the most interesting and surprising information “points” that you have
learned from reading the articles and Hurley’s bullet paper (at least three)?
References
All materials used should be properly referenced according to MLA or other commonly used format.
Writing and Presentation Mechanics
Structure of the paper flows and is easily read. The sequence of topics is in a logical order. The student
reviewer’s voice is strong. Complete sentences are used along with noun/verb tense. An effective, vibrant
vocabulary is used.
