The textbook describes immigrant populations in the US (Asian/Pacific,
Latino/Hispanics, and Arabs/Middle Eastern). As you know, the people such
identified have many countries of origin (for example, Latinos come mainly from
North, Central, and South America, and there are many countries in that
region/continent). Same for those coming from the Asian/Pacific islands, and
Arabic/Middle Eastern countries.
Select one country within those groups (Asian/Pacific, Latino/Hispanics, and
Arabs/Middle Eastern) and write a four page paper (this excludes the title and
reference pages, which will be the fifth & sixth page) describing the police/law
enforcement system prevalent in your selected country. Some ideas of topics to
cover from which you can select several:
Brief history, structure & organization of the force, police selection process & career
path, who is likely to become an officer and some reasons why, police culture and
values, function of the police force, main problems they deal with (crime, homicide,
juvenile delinquency, homeless, mentally ill, etc.), type of population they are most
like to deal with, public perceptions of the police, do they carry weapons and what
kind, use of technology and gear (pepper spray, mode of transportation, etc.) and
other resources available, response time, crackdowns, investigation of crimes reported, use of discretion, interaction with citizens, traffic stops, patrol strategies,
