•In your secondintroductoryparagraph, transition toThe Complete Maus: A Survivor’s Taleand provide a summaryof the text, concluding with athesis that answers the prompt. See handout on transitions.)Conclude the second paragraph with your thesis. For help with thesis statements, see upcoming Advice Sheets.
Body paragraphs:Minimum of 3body paragraphs.

For this essay, although Gladwell is part of the context, your primary purpose is not to support or dispute his claim about cultural legacies.Instead,Yoursummary and explanationof Gladwell shouldbe restrictedtothe introductory paragraphonly; you do not need to refer to Gladwell in the thesis or body paragraphs. Instead, yourbody paragraphs should be devoted to detailed analysis ofMaussupporting the claim you make about the particular legacies that stem from the Holocaust.Youmaywant to return to Gladwell and his notion of the cultural legacy in your conclusion, but do not spend time explaining his concepts in the body paragraphs.See upcoming Advice Sheets for additional information about topic sentences.
