General Description
Short analysis assignments are 1/2-page writing assignments in which students analyze a selected reading. A specific question or prompt will be provided for each short analysis assignment, and the focus of analysis is the text, itself (not a personal response). Each short analysis assignment is worth 10 points. Short analysis assignments need to be submitted as a Word document or pdf file and should be a minimum of 1/2 page (and no more than one full page) in MLA format. Short analysis assignments will be due by 11:59pm on Sundays.
Short Analysis 10 Directions
In Jekyll and Hyde, chapter 10, Utterson reads Dr. Jekyll’s full explanation of the case. Jekyll explains, in his letter, his reasons for engaging in transcendental medicine, which culminates in his ability to transform into Hyde. Using the body paragraph structure below, answer the following question: According to Jekyll’s final letter to Utterson, how does Jekyll’s attitude toward Hyde change over time, and what does this suggest about Jekyll’s self-perception as scientist and creator? In your discussion, integrate two passages from Jekyll and Hyde, chapter 10 only, to support your interpretation. Be sure that the passages are integrated correctly according to MLA format. Remember to follow up the passages with sufficient explanation/analysis.
