Topic 4: What are the differences between lean and TQM? What are the implications for supply?
The lean philosophy differs slightly from TQM and six sigma. However, because these three ideas complement one another, there is much to gain if organizations can do so. Along with the principles of TQM, six sigma and lean are good road maps that can be used separately or together. This procedure prioritizes quality and has a client-centered mindset. TQM focuses on quality improvement over the long term, whereas Lean Six Sigma emphasizes speed, metrics, and eliminating variance.
Disruptions in the supply chain do not merely lead to price increases and shortages for luxury goods like automobiles. They also impact more fundamental goods like energy or generic medications, which raises the price of living and the availability of necessities. Supply chain management hopes to gain more attention as a way to become or maintain competitiveness in a difficult global environment. A product travels via a network of businesses to reach the final consumer, which typically consists of suppliers, processors, distributors, and retailers. A company will only attain a meaningful competitive advantage with the right partners to collaborate with throughout the supply chain. For this, 3PL and 4PL providers must offer a more comprehensive view of the supply chain.
