Audience: Friends

Goal: To write a story about a disastrous vacation (des vacances désastreuses), real or imagined. 

Use the following questions as a guide: 

1. Où êtes-vous allé(e)? Quand avez-vous fait ce voyage?
2. Avez-vous voyagé seul(e) ou avec quelqu’un? 
3. Comment (par quel moyen de transport) avez-vous voyagé? 
4. Avez-vous loué une chambre d’hôtel, un appartement? 
5. Décrivez vos activités: Qu’est-ce que vous avez fait? Qu’est-ce que vous n’avez pas réussi à faire? 
6. Qu’est-ce qui a tourné mal? Pourquoi? Qu’est-ce que vous avez fini par faire?

Steps

1. Write an outline of your story.

·       Set the scene: With whom did you travel? Where did you go?

·       Describe the complications you encountered.

·       Explain what you and your companions did under the circumstances.

·       Tell how the vacation ended and how the difficulties were resolved.

1. Complete the outline, fill in any details, and write the first draft.
2. Ask a classmate to reread the draft for clarity. Make any changes that seem useful. 
3. Finally, check for spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Focus especially on your use of the passé composé.
