(Philosophy of Film and Photography class)
Your paper must contain a reference to one text discussed in class AND one external text – “text” refers to films, photographs, books or articles.
1. What role do emotions (of the creator or the viewer) play in the reception, understanding or interpretation of a film or a work of photography?
The question is open-ended and you may respond in one of several ways.
● You may choose to contrast two texts with each other, describing how differences in technique or context influence their reception.
● You may choose a text that itself is a response to another text, and describe how the reception of the latter influences the creation of the former.
● You may choose two texts from two distinct historical and social contexts but with similar resonance and effect, underlining the influence of something non-contextual, like intent, on their reception. These are only a few ideas, and you may pursue an entirely different approach. Your goal is to answer the question as precisely as you can, with evidence from the texts you cite
