Body Paragraphs: Each body paragraph will begin with a topic sentence that address a point in your thesis statement. Next, provide supporting sentences that gives more specific information about your point. Then, provide elaboration with evidence from your sources. Counterargument Paragraph: This paragraph is unique to an argumentative essay and different from previous body paragraphs. Since each prompt for this essay is debatable, there is most likely an opposite point of view from the one you have chosen to discuss. In this section, you will discuss the opposite point of view and then refute it. A counterargument paragraph has two parts: 1. Acknowledge the opposition by stating it’s claim; 2. Refute the opposition’s claim by explaining the showing its faults or errors.
Conclusion Paragraph: The conclusion should summarize reiterate your thesis statement, summarize the main points of the essay, and effectively bring the essay to a close.
