Thesis : How does your author use the idea of romance to explore aspects of the Asian American experience?

What does romance represent for the Asian American character(s) in your selected story? What is the outcome of the romance in the story, and what does the outcome tell you about the way the Asian immigrant experience is represented in the story?Make sure to identify and analyze specific scenes and details to support your thesis and main points. Do NOT provide plot summaries. Instead, focus on analyzing supporting details from the text. This also means that you must discuss language and imagery, rather than simply quote or describe the action of selected scenes. Be selective; do not feel compelled to discuss every part of the story.
Your essay will be evaluated for:
• a clear and specific position in response to the essay prompt
• the organization of your ideas (per “Essay Structure” handout)
• detailed development of your ideas to support your thesis• your use of specific examples (supporting details) from the text
• your use of literary terms and elements to discuss textual examples
• proper MLA citation form when you use quotations, summaries or paraphrase
• your use of correct sentence structure, grammar, and mechanical conventions
