Research Project
Write a five page research paper about the issues/ideas raised in one the the essays/poems/novella/ interviews/short stories/TED Talks that we read/watched for class that uses close reading and TWO outside sources (sources you find) to guide and support your analysis.
Here are acceptable sources:
- for one of the two outside sources, you may use one another class texts
- an EBSCOhost article
- another text/TED talk from this class or one that you have read/viewed before,
- a new TED Talk
- a new essay, article or website you find not on EBSCOhost that is reliable –I am happy to confirm if it is reliable
- a movie
- a song
- a poem
- artwork
- an interview
You determine the focus of your project, but it should consider the following provisions.
- Choose a poem/essay/ short story/TED Talk/interviews from our course
- Closely re-read and analyze the piece you choose.
- Find outside research to support your analysis. You need to include at least two outside sources. Acceptable choices are listed above.
- Define and develop an argument (research question) that incorporates your close reading of the text(s), textual analysis, and outside research. You should quote from your primary text as well as your outside material.
General Guidelines for Research Paper:
- Your paper should include at least TWO outside sources
- Page Minimum: 5 typed pages, 12 point font, Times New Roman
- Format Style: MLA—Modern Language Association
- 5 typed pages plus a Works Cited
