In just one paragraph, respond to the above prompt. Your response should an argument, meaning it should have a point of view (that’s your answer to the first question), and it should prove or demonstrate your point of view (that’s your reasoning and answers the “why” part of the question).
Your essay should be ONE PARAGRAPH (~300 words), typed, double-spaced.
Purpose
This assignment helps me assess everyone’s writing baseline. It will also help you get acquainted with the format of the short essays, how to submit your work, and how you’ll be graded.
Tips
In your paragraph-essay be sure that:
Your first sentence is your thesis statement. No need for a lengthy introduction.
Your thesis is in response to the prompt.
You (briefly) explain what the prompt means to you/how you interpret the question.
You supply reasons for your point of view/you provide evidence that demonstrates your view
You review the rubric for more detailed essay criteria.
