Essay Expectations
Your essay will be between 1200-1600 words in total and written in multiple paragraphs. Give your writing an original title that reflects your voice/views.
Your essay will use the moves of the module around introducing a text or the context of a whole conversation to a reader with the necessary information .
Your essay will reference and effectively utilize three different texts from our text set of six texts. Two of the texts are entirely your choice and one must be Gurdon’s original text.
Your essay will be written for a web audience and use effective and working hyperlinks to original URLs for the texts in our text set that you choose to reference.
Your essay will use exactly 4 or 5 embedded quote passages crafted from those three different texts used to support your writing. Each must start with a context phrase or signal phrase as the moment/usage requires, use a well-crafted and smoothly-integrated direct or indirect quote (paraphrase), and include a working hyperlink to the text’s original publication URL or simply the whole text set file link from the course shell as some small part of that embedded quote passage. You only need 4 passages in total, and not 4 per source. These are supporting components for your views and your voice, not the other way around.
Your essay will use one narrative “for example” to support a body paragraph and/or as a rhetorical tool in your introduction/conclusion paragraph(s). Here’s a list of possibilities: an anecdote, a personal experience, a well-drawn analogy, a hypothetical, or an illustrative/imagined ‘for instance.’ These little moves found their way into nearly all the texts in the set so let’s follow suit.
