My story is “shooting an elephant” by George Orwell. The thesis is “George Orwell uses the short story Shooting an Elephant to display the evil acts of imperialism and colonization in the 19th century.” The point of the essay is to discuss how Orwell uses the book to display how awful imperialism and colonization is. Using the story is allowed to transition it back into the thesis but it’s not meant to be a book summary, but you can still talk about what happens in the story and connecting it. You can talk about imperialism itself and colonization itself, Please tie it back into england in the 19th century since thats when the story takes place.
