Response Critical Analyses to MY classmate Initial Critical Analyses differ only slightly:
โข Question: This time your task is to decide on a Question raised by a classmate Initial mini-essay.
โข For instance, does the analysis present an insight you didn’t think of? Did it inspire a new insight of your own? Does it leave a logical gap or a gap in the evidence or conclusion-โthat you can fill? Or do you disagree with some part of their argument?
โข Now, to turn it into an interesting and do-able Question you can reverse this logic: If there is a new-to-you insight, you might set up your Question confirm that finding (like STEM fields, where repeating the experiment is a crucial step to confirm the findings). If there is some gap, your Question might be to re-examine the Evidence to determine whether there really is a gap in their argument (this might turn out to be a check on whether you over-read the text yourselfโmomentarily embarrassing, but a fruitful & acceptable Question).
