My chosen film is “All That Jazz” (Directed by Bob Fosse, 1979)
This independent research project is the culmination of the course’s theoretical and analytical work, applying the methods, analytical tools, and discussions studied in an independent research project. The essay should put forward an argument not just about how theatre is represented in your chosen film but also why theatre is represented in the way it is and what the filmic representation tells us about theatre (as an art form, as an object of cultural production, as a place for creative (self-)expression, as a workplace, as a site of political contestation, and so on).
Conduct historical, theoretical, and/or other secondary source research on the chosen film, using sufficient supporting material to support their claims and arguments.
We submitted a research proposal for this essay, so I will upload that file that includes suggestions from the instructor, as well as this assignments instructions. I want the essay to closely reflect the information in the research proposal and make improvements based on instructor notes.
