Executive Summary – Up to one page summarizing the technology or trend you chose, its
application to the business, and your recommendation.
Introduction – Provide a brief overview of the technology or trend. What is it? What is new or exciting about it? How is it being used by small businesses currently? [1-2 pages]
Analysis –
Describe how the business might benefit from adopting the technology/trend. It is
important that the technology/trend you chose is shown to be relevant to the business.
Identify risks associated with adoption. Any assumptions you make (e.g., about the business) in your analysis should be listed in a separate Appendix on one page. [3-4 pages, excluding Appendix]
Recommendation – Provide a clear recommendation on whether or not the business should adopt the technology. If your recommendation is positive, briefly outline an approach or strategy for adoption. If your recommendation is negative, briefly summarize your argument against adoption. [up to 1 page]
References – Provide full citations for any sources you use in preparing your report (e.g., academic research or popular press articles on the trend/technology you have selected).
Appendices – You are expected to provide at least one Appendix as described below. In addition, you may provide an additional Appendix with information that supports your analysis. Such information could, for example, include a table showing how the technology/trend has been adopted by other companies or an analysis of the costs and benefits of adoption.
