By this week, you will have read chapters 1 through 6 in our textbook. In those chapters, the jobs of actors, playwrights, designers, technicians and directors are discussed.
AFTER YOU WATCH THIS WEEK’S THEATRE VIEWING ASSIGNMENT, I’d like you to imagine that you were involved in the creation of this specific production of the Donmar Warehouse’s production of Julius Caesar as either the director, set designer, costume designer, lighting designer, stage manager or as an actor.
Describe in this discussion board what you might do in a typical day, either in pre-production, rehearsal, or performance FOR THIS SPECIFIC PRODUCTION as if it’s a journal entry. Include examples of particular duties that your imagined job would include and any particular challenges that you would face in being a participant in this specific production. Be accurate in your description of these job duties, using terms from your readings, and be sure that you’re writing as if you were involved in this particular production of Julius Caesar that you were assigned to view. This post must be at least 150 words in length. THEN comment on the entry of at least one of your classmates – Is their post accurate as to the duties of the particular occupation that they selected? Is there anything interesting or surprising about what they’ve written?
NOTE: To complete this week’s discussion board successfully: 1. it must be evident that you have read chapters 1 through 6, referencing terms and/or duties described in the textbook, and 2. your posting must reference potential challenges with this specific production.
The grading criteria for these Discussion Board posts will be the following:
1. Did you address the specific Discussion Board prompt?
2. Did you use specific examples to support your points?
3. Did you write in a clear and error-free manner?
3. Did you fulfill the minimum word count requirement?
