paper. The secondary source should be a book published <\/span>by a university press (or by an academic trade press\u2014check with us if you are unsure).<\/span><\/div>\n

Your paper should address the following points:<\/div>\n
–Identify the author and provide information on his\/her professional affiliation and name a few of the other <\/span><\/div>\n
works he\/she has published. (The point here is not to list all the author\u2019s <\/span>academic affiliations and publications, but to give the reader a sense of his\/her area of <\/span>expertise and research focus.)<\/span><\/div>\n
–Describe the range and kinds of sources (primary and\/or secondary) the author used.<\/div>\n
–Summarize the book\u2019s argument. What is the author\u2019s thesis or interpretive approach?<\/div>\n
–Articulate what you see as the strengths and weaknesses of the book\u2014including the kinds<\/div>\n
of sources used and not used, the quality of the author’s interpretation of those sources, and<\/div>\n
the strengths and weaknesses of the argument. How effectively does the book address the<\/div>\n
issues it raises? Does it succeed in convincing you that those issues are significant and<\/div>\n
worth raising in the first place?<\/div>\n
