Public health professionals must also identify the social determinants that impact the people of the community and address them in the intervention plans that are chosen to meet the needs of the people.

In the first section of the grant proposal process, you will validate the need for adapting an existing public health program by sharing relevant data and research that supports the success of the program and the needs of the community. In the second section, you will draft goals and objectives.

Refer to the Community Alliance Partners Request for Proposal guidelines to determine which information should be included in these sections of your Mock Grant Proposal.

So that you can focus your attention on the process of writing a grant proposal, a grant funding agency has already been located for you, Community Alliance Partners. Refer to the Community Alliance Partners Request for Proposal in the Resource area of each Module.

Getting to Know Your Local Community Alliance Partners

Community Alliance Partners exists in a virtual community known as Grant City. Go to Grant City and locate the Community Alliance Partners building; you will find additional resources for grant writing, including examples of work plans, completed budget forms, tips for goals and objectives, etc. You will become more familiar with Grant City later in the course. The work you do for the Mock Grant Proposal will lay the groundwork for the Strategic Plan Assignment in Module 6.

Document: Community Alliance Partners Request for Proposal (RFP) (Word document)

Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health.
