In this private company, there were clearly defined roles and responsibilities.\n<\/div>\n
We worked in small groups with a total of 400 people in the organization.\n<\/div>\n
We were all paid well.\n<\/div>\n
I then accepted a job in the public sector.\n<\/div>\n
There is a total of 3000 employees. over 260 different services were offered to the public.\n<\/div>\n
There was an undefined organizational chart and unclear lines of reporting for employees which made departments inefficient.\n<\/div>\n
Employees had limited education and the pay for most employees was relatively low.\n<\/div>\n
I was brought in on a special contract which meant I was paid much more than other people and the team knew it.\n<\/div>\n
I was put in a team leader role but I experienced a large amount of resistance from the people I worked with.\n<\/div>\n
I felt like an outsider.\n<\/div>\n
I was ignored and was unable to inspire my team as they questioned why I deserved the position I had.\n<\/div>\n
I would present a proposal to my manager who was responsive and gave me the green light to get started but when I needed to actually get my team to deliver it was very difficult.\n<\/div>\n
I felt ignored, I felt like an outsider.\n<\/div>\n
