Introduction<\/p>\n

After learning much basic knowledge about building services engineering, this assignment is\n<\/div>\n
designed to provide an opportunity and mechanism for searching relevant information to\n<\/div>\n
review its current development, and present your results based on a short review article (an\n<\/div>\n
academic article mainly based on research articles). About how to write a good review article,\n<\/div>\n
please refer to the presentation (How to write a good review paper) I gave in the class in Year\n<\/div>\n
2, and the PPT can also be found in the assessment folder of this module after releasing this\n<\/div>\n
assignment brief.\n<\/div>\n

Requirements\n<\/div>\n
You are asked to define your topic from ONE of the three themes below, which means that\n<\/div>\n
you do not need to discuss the whole theme, but focus on a specific area under that theme.\n<\/div>\n
For example, for Theme 3, you do not need to discuss the development of all renewable\n<\/div>\n
energy solutions for buildings, but can focus on one of the available renewable energy\n<\/div>\n
solutions, such as solar energy, even solar panels.\n<\/div>\n
Theme 1: Intelligent or Smart Buildings\n<\/div>\n
Theme 2: Building Energy Assessment\n<\/div>\n
Theme 3: Renewable Energy Solutions for Buildings\n<\/div>\n

The assignment should offer clear description and comment on the topic you selected under\n<\/div>\n
one of the above three themes, including its background and importance, current\n<\/div>\n
development, existing problems and potential future research directions. A good practice of\n<\/div>\n
this assignment should be based on an overview of the development of the selected topic,\n<\/div>\n
but not simply describing individual technologies. It could be supported by simple sketches,\n<\/div>\n
diagrams, photographs and tables to support your statements or summarize your reviewed\n<\/div>\n
information. The report should be fully supported by references, appendices of relevant\n<\/div>\n
material and other evidence related to the topic. The submission must describe the results\n<\/div>\n
from your own review work.\n<\/div>\n
